Field-recording notes
The park's rules are among the strictest in Europe: marked paths only, no leaving the trail even by a metre, no dogs, no drones, no camping or bivouac, and no overnight stay in the park — you must be out by dark. That means the rut is recorded from the path at dawn (walk in from S-chanf in the dark — allowed, you just can't stop overnight) and at dusk before leaving. Unattended recorders left overnight are not permitted. It's still worth it: no road, no aircraft below the ridge lines, no hunting (banned since 1914), habituated animals roaring within 100 m of the trail. Bring the guide-led excursion for the first visit; rangers enforce the path rule.
