Two Little Egrets (Egretta Garzetta) fighting on the side of a pond in Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Catalonia, North Spain.
They are colonial birds, nesting in this area over spring and summer. Some are migratory and others are dispersive. "Migratory" means they would winter far away from their nesting grounds, while others disperse. Mediterranian ones like these tend to be dispersive and overwinter in the Mediterranean Sea.

If you see them on the water, while hunting, Little egrets may spread one or both of their wings to shade the water and to have a better view of the prey. Stay patient and hopefully, you'll see them doing it!
