Where to go
- Vallée des Merveilles (Refuge des Merveilles) — Core zone with rock engravings; guided only in the engraving sector, refuge overnight for dawn sessions. Map

How to go on your own, and what it costs
Le Boréon and the Col de la Cayolle are free: park at the Boréon lake or the pass and walk the marked trails from first light. Vallée des Merveilles: the trail to the Refuge des Merveilles is free, but the engravings sector beyond is guided-only in season — stay on the marked route or book a guide at the refuge. Core-zone rules apply everywhere.
Cost: Free; refuge nights and guided Merveilles visits paid (check current prices).
Field-recording notes
Wild wolf howling in France has no visitor programme — any howl you record is luck, and howl playback is prohibited in the park. Marmots and ibex are habituated near refuges; go early before hikers. Core-zone rules: no drones, no dogs, bivouac only 19h–9h near trails.
